YEREVAN. – Hraparak daily of Armenia writes: The commander of the Russian peacekeepers [in the area], General Muradov, was in Baku on a working visit on May 24, and he did not return with encouraging news for us.

Despite the efforts, he failed to persuade [Azerbaijan president] Aliyev that they back down from the demand for demarcation of borders and withdraw [his] troops from Sev Lake.

He [Muradov] was informed that there is an arrangement with [Armenian acting PM] Pashinyan to sign the 3rd document before the [June 20 snap parliamentary] elections [in Armenia], whereby the grounds—which map—on which the demarcation works will be carried out will be specified.

Azerbaijan is in favor of the USSR map that is unfavorable for us, and if Pashinyan does not agree, they threaten to use military force and not allow the elections to take place.

Muradov was directly told; he promised that he shall keep the promise.
