In the US state of New Mexico, a man was detained who intended to assassinate US President Joe Biden, Fox reported.

According to the investigation, 39-year-old John Benjamin Thornton sent letters threatening reprisals to several people in different states. He intended to kill employees of the Canadian company for the creation of quantum computers D-Wave Systems, as well as the American leader "for treason.

According to the FBI, citizens who received such mailings from Thornton contacted law enforcement agencies back in November last year after the presidential elections in the United States. Materials with similar statements were also found on the attacker's Facebook page.

The Thornton trial is scheduled for Friday, May 28th. It should take place in New Mexico.
