Acting Minister of Defense of Armenia Vagharshak Harutyunyan today had a meeting with Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation, army general Sergey Shoygu in Moscow.

As reported the Ministry of Defense of Armenia, during the meeting, the parties discussed the course of the peacekeeping mission in Nagorno-Karabakh, the situation created in the Syunik and Gegharkunik Provinces of Armenia, as well as issues related to the Armenia-Russia military cooperation and regional security.

The Armenian acting defense minister provided his Russian counterpart with details about the Azerbaijani Armed Forces’ infiltration into the territory of Armenia and the actions that the Armed Forces of Armenia are taking.

Harutyunyan emphasized that the Azerbaijanis’ provocations with the phony justification of “adjustment of the border” are absolutely unacceptable and that the Azerbaijani troops must immediately leave the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia.

The parties considered the possible options for a settlement of the situation and agreed on the necessary actions.
