The United States has not imported oil from Iran since the days of former US President Bill Clinton, said spokesperson of the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Saeed Khatibzadeh.

His remarks came in response to comment on reports about possible oil supplies from Iran to the United States in March, TASS reports.

On May 28, the Energy Information Administration (EIA) of the US Department of Energy published materials from which it follows that Iran in March for the first time since November 1991 exported oil to the United States in the amount of 33 thousand barrels per day.

In the early 1990s, against the backdrop of aggravated relations with Tehran, Washington completely stopped importing Iranian oil.
