The American authorities raised $ 110 million for a shipment of Iranian oil worth two million barrels.

According to the Russian media outlet RBK, this raw material was on the Achilleas tanker seized in February this year off the coast of the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The ship, which was sailing under the flag of Liberia, was stopped on suspicion of transporting raw materials from Iran under the guise of Iraqi oil.

According to US prosecutors, the oil went to China.

The proceeds from the sale of oil were sent to a special bank account. The money is expected to be spent on satisfying lawsuits that US citizens have filed against Iran.

This is the second time the United States has sold seized oil in the past six months: in October 2020, the United States sold 1.11 million barrels from four tankers en route to Venezuela. For them, the country gained $ 40 million, the money was transferred to the same account.
