In 2020, the budget of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia grew by AMD 1,600,000,000 and reached AMD 17,100,000,000, compared with the initial plan.

This is what acting Minister of Finance of Armenia Atom Janjughazyan said during today’s discussion on the annual report on performance of the 2020 State Budget held as part of the joint session of four standing committees of the National Assembly. According to him, the Ministry of Finance had initially planned to allocate AMD 15,500,000,000 to the MFA for 6 programs and 18 events in the year 2020. However, after adjustments were made, the budget grew to AMD 17,100,000,000.

“Most of the expenditures were made to organize the work of Armenia’s diplomatic missions abroad (nearly 98.7% of the allocated AMD 12,100,000,000 was spent). Expenditures for cooperation with foreign organizations comprised AMD 2,280,000,000,” Janjughazyan said, adding that, in regard to membership fees paid to international organizations, Armenia’s expenditures made up AMD 3,324,000,000. “This part of the expenditures concerned not only the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, but also the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport, the National Assembly, the Ministry of Finance and Armenian Public Television and Radio Council,” he said.
