Prosecutor General of Armenia Artur Davtyan today had a meeting with Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Igor Krasnov in Saint Petersburg, making it the third meeting this year, as reported the Public Relations Department of the Prosecutor General’s Office of Armenia.

The parties discussed issues related to the development of the strong partnering ties, mutual legal assistance in criminal cases, as well as bilateral and multilateral cooperation in the fight against international crime.

The Prosecutors General touched upon the mechanisms for partnership between the Prosecutor General’s Office and investigative body of the Russian Federation serving in the territory of Armenia and the peacekeeping mission in Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) and the law-enforcement authorities of Armenia and Artsakh, as well as the implementation of the agreements reached between the Prosecutors General of Armenia and the Russian Federation for excluding ceasefire violations on the Armenian-Azerbaijani line of contact and promptly recording and responding to such incidents.

Armenia’s Prosecutor General highlighted the involvement of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation and Igor Krasnov for solving the humanitarian issues that emerged after the war in Artsakh in 2020, finding missing and deceased soldiers during the hostilities and adjusting data on them.

During the meeting, Davtyan also touched upon the return of Armenian servicemen and civilians captured and detained in Azerbaijan and the need for protection of their rights, in accordance with international law and point 8 in the trilateral statement on ceasefire signed by the leaders of Armenia, Russia and Azerbaijan on November 9, 2020.

After the meeting, Davtyan and Krasnov signed a memorandum on the priority directions for cooperation between the Offices of the Prosecutors’ General of Armenia and Russia between 2021 and 2025.
