The "Armenia" bloc is in favor of opening communications in the region, but is against the concept of "Meghri Corridor." Second President Robert Kocharyan, the leader of the "Armenia" bloc that will run in the snap parliamentary elections on June 20, said this during Monday’s meeting in Agarak village.

"I want everyone to understand correctly. We [the ‘Armenia’ bloc] are in favor of opening communications, and it would not be normal to be against the opening of roads. But I am worried about the word 'corridor' because I know what they mean in Azerbaijan and Turkey by the word 'corridor.' And if they talk about the corridor only through the territory of Armenia and not corridors for everyone, it is the signal when it is necessary to stop and ask what they mean. According to them, it will mean the restriction of Armenia's sovereignty in the corridor area and the establishment of their powers on the corridor; this is inadmissible. That is why we [the ‘Armenia’ bloc] say yes, all roads must be opened and for the benefit of all. In today's world, blockades are not a good thing. But no more because more is problematic. Azerbaijan and Turkey have far-reaching goals: first a corridor, then more, then more, and as a result, a serious security problem will be created for the residents of the region," Kocharyan said.
