France has said it will do its best to ensure that e-commerce giant Amazon is subject to the G7-approved minimum global tax, Reuters reported.

According to the plan, countries will be allowed to tax a share of the profits of the world's most profitable companies at a rate of at least 15 percent, regardless of where they are based.

However, this only applies to companies whose profit margins exceed 10 percent. Despite Amazon's colossal presence and a market cap of over $ 1 trillion, its profit margin was just 6.3 percent last year, well below that threshold.
