North Korean leader Kim Jong-un said the situation with the provision of food to the population of the country is tense, NHK TV channel reported.

Due to the damage from last year's typhoon, the plan for growing grain was not fulfilled, and therefore, at the moment, there is a tense situation with the provision of food to the population, he added.

The leader also noted that the extension of the quarantine measures introduced in the republic to prevent the spread of coronavirus led to a delay in the struggle to provide the population with clothing, food and housing.

In April, addressing the participants in a conference of party secretaries in Pyongyang, Kim Jong-un urged to be ready for a difficult march to improve the lives of the country's population.
