Russia is closely following the information about the possibility of establishing a Turkish military base in Azerbaijan. The statement came from Dmitry Peskov, spokesman for the Russian president, TASS reports.
"Undoubtedly, this issue is at the center of our attention," he added.
Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov declined to comment on this information, calling it a "rumor."
As reported earlier, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan had not ruled out the possibility of establishing a Turkish military base in Azerbaijan—and within the framework of the "Shushi Declaration" that was signed recently between him and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.
