Today the people vote fully, and give their vote to whoever they believe in. Gagik Tsarukyan—opposition Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) leader and business tycoon MP, who heads the PAP’s electoral list in Sunday’s snap parliamentary elections and as its candidate for PM—told this to reporters after voting.

"I voted for a secure, strong, developing, prosperous Armenia. If everything is going in accordance with the rules, why make unnecessary noise? The voters decide their future, they live in this country. Everyone has presented their program, and the people will give their vote to whomever they pin hope on," he said.

Asked whether the PAP will form a coalition with the ruling Civil Contract Party (CCP) if it becomes crucial for the latter, Tsarukyan answered: "I rule [that] out."

To the question whether businessman and in-law Khachatur Sukiasyan—who is on the CCP electoral list—could influence his decision. "Do you believe what you said? Who can influence Tsarukyan? These are empty talks."

And asked whether his passivity during the election campaign may mean that he is going to close the political chapter of his life, Tsarukyan countered: "You are sorely mistaken. If Russia leaves [the area] in 4.5 years, it means that Turkey shall come. (…). I have a goal for the benefit of my people and country."
