Freedom fighter Artur Ayvazyan was apprehended Sunday evening, after which he was detained. His lawyer Ara Zakaryan informed Armenian News-NEWS.am about this.

"They do not state any reason for the detention; they only say, ‘For carrying out hooliganism.’ But what hooliganism? When? Where? They do not give us of any information?" Zakaryan added.

The lawyer said that Ayvazyan has declared a hunger strike. "Ayvazyan considers that he is being politically persecuted. The 'hammer' promised by the [acting] prime minister, which they will put into action soon, started with Artur Ayvazyan," he said

Ara Zakaryan added that he has submitted an appeal to the court regarding the lawfulness of his client’s detention.
