YEREVAN. – Zhoghovurd daily of Armenia writes: Snap parliamentary elections are now a reality.

What is expected now? The Central Electoral Commission will sum up the final election results on June 28, and on that day it will be clear once and for all how many mandates the forces that have passed to the parliament will receive.

Thus, the new parliament will be considered formed on June 28, and (…) the first sitting of the newly elected parliament will take place on July 5.

However, let us note that yesterday the "Armenia" bloc [led by second President Robert Kocharyan] issued a statement announcing challenging—up to the option of applying to the Constitutional Court [(CC)]—the election results. In this case, the timeframes may be changed until the relevant application is examined by the CC.

That is, if the opposition force decides to apply to the CC, the process of forming the new parliament will be prolonged.
