Media freedom and the right of people to receive accurate information were discussed at the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE).
In this connection, Naira Zohrabyan, an outgoing member of the Armenian delegation to the PACE, spoke about manipulating public opinion with hatred and enmity propaganda through fake news, citing as an example, Council of Europe (CoE) member Azerbaijan, where its media are at the forefront of spreading hatred and enmity towards Armenians.
Zohrabyan called for much stricter legislative regulations against total propaganda of hatred and enmity through fake news in CoE member states, considering inciting hatred and ethnic enmity as one of the most serious challenges of Europe.
