The number of deaths from the consequences of COVID-19 infection in the United States will continue to grow amid the spread of the Delta strain, US President Joe Biden said, speaking in North Carolina, broadcast by American news TV channels.

Over 600,000 Americans have died and there will be others with this Delta strain. You know that this will happen, he said, again urging US residents to be vaccinated.

The Delta variant is easier to transmit and potentially could be more deadly, and especially dangerous for young people, Biden said, referring to Anthony S. Fauci, M.D., is director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) at the U.S. National Institutes of Health

The American leader noted that the spread of the Delta strain raises serious concerns.

Originally identified in India, the Delta strain is now present in more than 85 countries, according to WHO.
