Private Norik Mkrtchyan, a conscript of the Armed Forces of Armenia, is considered missing for more than a month now.

"The relevant bodies continue to search. They assure by 90 percent that he has not been taken captive [by Azerbaijan] and is in the territory of Armenia, but we do not know where he is.

A criminal case has been initiated, a search has been announced within its framework, but the fact is that there is no child," Arsen Aghababyan, the head of Koghb village in Tavush Province, told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

Mkrtchyan is from Koghb, and he is serving in the military for only three months.

Aghababyan added that Norik had not gone home after abandoning his military unit, and in general, he had not gone home ever since being drafted.

On May 22, the Ministry of Defense (MOD) had reported that on May 18, the Vardenis department of the MOD Military Police had received a phone call from the aforesaid military unit informing that on the same day, Private Norik Mkrtchyan, a conscript of this military unit, had left the unit of his own accord, and is on the list of servicemen who have left their military units of their own accord.
