Several dozens of doctors today held a protest in front of the Prosecutor General’s Office of Armenia in defense of member of ‘Armenia’ bloc (the bloc won seats in parliament following the snap parliamentary elections on June 20), doctor, Professor Armen Charchyan, who will be in custody for a month.

The doctors read the application signed by 539 doctors and addressed to citizens of Armenia, the Prime Minister, the President, the Prosecutor General, the Court of Appeal, the justice minister, the health minister and the Human Rights Defender.

In their statement, the doctors state that their friend and colleague Armen Charchyan is remanded, has been suffering from diabetes and dependent on insulin for years and underwent intensive treatment a few days ago due to sharp renal failure. They add that there are many patients in front of Charchyan’s office every day and that his body and soul are in need of help.

The doctors also stated that the authorities don’t need to fear that Charchyan will obstruct investigation of the case against him and urge and demand the release of Charchyan.
