The Council of the European Union gave the go-ahead for the signing of three aviation agreements - with Armenia, Ukraine, and Tunisia.

These agreements will open up the air travel market, offering new opportunities for both consumers and operators. Through more efficient connections, they will promote trade, tourism, investment, and economic and social development.

The agreements will remove market restrictions on EU neighboring countries and link these countries to the EU internal aviation market as they adopt EU aviation standards and apply EU aviation regulations.

The decisions on Ukraine, Armenia, and Qatar allow the agreement to be applied on a temporary basis pending the completion of the procedures required for its entry into force.

The agreements are expected to be signed in the fall of 2021. Then each agreement must be ratified by the EU member state and the other party.
