Russian President Vladimir Putin's spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Russia is ready to welcome France's mediation efforts in the Nagorno-Karabakh [(Artsakh)] talks if these efforts contribute to the implementation of the agreements that were reached, RIA Novosti reported.

"If the mediation efforts bring stability, peace, predictability, help implement the existing agreements, then [they] can only be welcomed," Peskov said, when asked how Russia reacts to the fact that France allegedly expressed its intention to enter the format of Russia-Armenia-Azerbaijan talks, including acting as a mediator.

France, along with Russia and the United States, is a co-chairing country of the OSCE Minsk Group which works on finding a settlement to the Artsakh conflict.
