Today during the press conference at the Vanadzor Technology Center Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan referred to Serzh Sargsyan's son-in-law, former RA Ambassador to the Vatican Mikayel Minasyan and his recent statements.

“About Serzh Sargsyan, about Mikayel Minasyan ... there were statements, I associate these statements with the fact that Mikayel Minasyan received information, that the investigation in some criminal cases has already reached him, and it’s very likely, that he’ll be held as an accused, particularly, in the case of the privatization of one of the strategic objects of Armenia, and I suppose he thought that he would testify against Serzh Sargsyan, as a result the latter would be arrested. So he decided to preliminarily declare that he and Serzh Sargsyan are subject to political persecution," Pashinyan said.
He noted that Minasyan had privatized a very important strategic facility in Armenia. According to the PM, Special Investigation Service initiated a criminal case on this fact, but he did not give any details.
Pashinyan said that Minasyan is the owner of many facilities registered in the name of a woman unknown to the public.

“And how did Mikayel Minasyan finance the media? When we talk about the corrupt activities of Serzh Sargsyan, do we mean that he personally took a share in various businesses? Don’t you know which businesses? Starting from the mining industry, energy, advertising and media ... ”.

Pashinyan said that former corrupt officials continue to speak, and he understands that this contradicts the logic of justice, but does not contradict the logic of the rule of law.

“Because we are not going to shut up anyone's mouth, let them talk, but let them know that everything they say can be used against them. Does anyone of you doubt, that Mikayel Minasyan is a millionaire today, including with the use and application of government leverage? And so far we hadn’t sufficient legal procedures to return this property… We could go and bring back this woman who, by the way, was taken out of the country, and tell her: write that all this property is donated to the state. But we understood that, in the end, this story would unfold, and then those who have property would think: one day they will call us, they will tell us to give up the property. We followed the legal path, not the path of justice, but the legal path,” stated PM.

As for the existence of a political decision on the detention of Serzh Sargsyan, Pashinyan replied: “We don’t want and shouldn’t detain people based on political decisions. I had a rather tough conversation with the law enforcement system, not about Serzh Sargsyan, I said that all corrupt officials in the RA should end up in prison, and I think the volume, pace and results of the investigation of corruption cases are unsatisfactory. It was noted, but no personalities were mentioned."
