Tomorrow at 5pm the Criminal Court of Appeal of Armenia will examine the appeal of the defense against the decision on the arrest of former Prosecutor General of Armenia, former chairman of the Investigative Committee Aghvan Hovsepyan. This is what advocate Erik Aleksanyan posted on his Facebook page.

Aghvan Hovsepyan is under arrest for two months.

According to the Special Investigation Service, Aghvan Hovsepyan, holding the office of Prosecutor General of Armenia from 18 March 2004 until 13 September 2013 and the office of Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Armenia from 18 July 2014 until 11 June 2018, in the mentioned period, actually participated in the management of several limited liability companies carrying out entrepreneurial activities, as well as received a bribe in particularly large amounts (AMD 190,000,000) and fraudulently committed embezzlement of property in particularly large amounts (AMD 800,000,000). According to the Special Investigation Service, he also legitimized a total amount of AMD 1,299,404,414 that was obtained criminally.

Aghvan Hovsepyan was detained on September 7.
