Late last night, the court released Armenia’s former defense minister Davit Tonoyan on a signature bond, Hraparak.am reported.
Several hours earlier, Tonoyan and well-known arms supplier Davit Galstyan had been brought to a Yerevan court.
On Friday, the court will consider the petition of the National Security Service (NSS) to arrest Davit Tonoyan.
Earlier, Armenian News-NEWS.am had reported that the NSS conducted a search in Davit Tonoyan's home Wednesday. According to the rumors, Tonoyan was detained within the framework of a criminal case being investigated by the NSS, and with respect to the supplying of low-quality weapons in 2011. Accordingly, the former minister of defense had procured aviation ammunition, particularly missiles, at higher-than-market prices.
Let us add that the former head of the military aviation of Armenia, Avetik Muradyan, has been detained within the framework of this criminal case.
