The mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo, who plans to run in the 2022 French presidential election, has stated that France may recognize the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (Artsakh).
"I unequivocally agree that France may recognize the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic," Hidalgo tweeted, disseminating French writer and philosopher Bernard-Henri Levy’s article—of the same name—published in Le Point, and which said, "Our country [i.e., France] must find the courage to support the attacked minority."
To note, Levy expressed his solidarity with the Armenians also when the Turks took to the streets in Vienne, France, and threatened the Armenians.
"Supporting Armenia in [the] Nagorno-Karabakh [issue] is a political, moral, and virtually metaphysical imperative," Bernard-Henri Levy had added.
