We have expressed readiness to start the process of border delimitation and demarcation between Armenia and Azerbaijan. In my opinion, we should start by creating the necessary conditions for that. The swift return of [all Armenian] captives, hostages, and other detainees [in Azerbaijan] is a very important issue. The Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, stated this during Monday’s joint news briefing, in Lithuania—and with his Lithuanian colleague, Ingrida Simonyte.

"Ahead of a possible meeting with the president of Azerbaijan, I am ready to take with me all the [minefield] maps that pose a humanitarian threat, have no security function for Armenia, expressing hope that the president of Azerbaijan will bring with him the [Armenian] prisoners of war, hostages, and other detainees.

Moreover, we should take into account not only those whose fact of being taken captive has been officially confirmed, but also our citizens who, according to our information, are in Azerbaijan, but the fact of their capture has not been confirmed.

We must be consistent in the agenda we adopt, as well as we must detail our ideas on the solution of all issues. In this regard, the opening of regional communications is very important. It is necessary to accept scenarios of unblocking communications, which will not deepen the isolation of the countries and peoples of the region from each other, but, on the contrary, will create conditions for their peaceful coexistence.

I am pleased to note that the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs have, in fact, begun to intensify their activities. In this context, I positively assess the meeting of the foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan in New York.

Implementing the agenda of opening an era of peaceful development is not easy. On the other hand, I believe that there is no alternative to peace. This agenda must be implemented step by step," Pashinyan added.
