The price of gas futures in Europe has reached a new all-time high, exceeding the level of $ 1,600 per thousand cubic meters, according to data from the ICE Futures exchange.

A few minutes after the opening of trading, November futures on the Dutch TTF index jumped to $ 1596.8, and then crossed another psychological mark, reaching $ 1607.2. That's 15.5 percent higher than Tuesday's estimated price.

The previous record at the auction was recorded the day before - prices rose to $ 1,456.8, but at the close fell slightly - to $ 1,417.7.

The cost of gas on the European market has skyrocketed in recent weeks - if at the beginning of August the paper for the supply of fuel traded at $ 515 per thousand cubic meters, then a month later they rose to $ 614, and by the end of September they doubled in price.

According to experts, this is due to the low level of filling of gas storage facilities, limited supply from the main suppliers and high demand for LNG in Asia.
