The Russian peacekeepers have ensured the safe visit of the pilgrims to the Amaras monastic complex in Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh), reported the press service of the Russian Defense Ministry.

"Pilgrims from Nagorno-Karabakh and Armenia visit this complex. This place is considered sacred for many faithful who are in the territory of the Republic of Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh. The territory of the complex is under the control of the [Russian] peacekeeping contingent in order to prevent the resumption of the conflict," said Aleksandr Mironov, a representative of the Russian peacekeeping contingent.

The Amaras Monastery is being overseen by Russian peacekeepers ever since the end of hostilities and the signing of a trilateral ceasefire statement in November 2020.
