The historical houses of Armenians in Igdir are perishing since they have been left uncared.

According to Akunq.net, the houses built in the Syoghyutlu district of Igdir in the 19th century are on the verge of extinction. There is a record tracing back to 1908 in the upper section of the window of one of the historical houses.

Akunq.net reports that the famous structures under the name of “Armenian houses” have turned into a dumpsite, and there are writings on the walls of the houses.

The source also reports that even though the Directorate for Culture and Tourism of Igdir registered 12 historical houses to take them under its protection in 2013, no effort has been made in this direction to this day.
