YEREVAN. – Artur Vanetsyan, the head of the opposition "With Honor" Faction of the National Assembly and leader of the opposition Homeland party of Armenia, on Tuesday met with chairman Chahe Tanachian and secretary Hagop Arslanian of the Canadian chapter of the Armenian General Benevolent Union (AGBU), Armenian News-NEWS.am has learned from the Homeland party.

A number of issues related to the security and social protection of the people of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh), as well as the pan-Armenian agenda were discussed at the meeting.

Representatives of the AGBU Canada chapter noted that the Armenian diaspora will always stand with the people of Artsakh.

Vanetsyan, for his part, reaffirmed the position of the Homeland party and the "With Honor" Faction that the issue of Artsakh's self-determination is not resolved and it must be resolved through negotiations within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group.

Also, he stressed the need for the return of all Armenians captured by Azerbaijan as well as of the occupied territories of Artsakh. He added that of particular importance is the issue of holding Azerbaijan accountable by the relevant international bodies for the war crimes committed by Azerbaijan during the recent Artsakh war.
