Minister of Justice of Armenia Karen Andreasyan yesterday received Prosecutor General of the Islamic Republic of Iran Mohammad Jafar Montazeri, who is on a three-day visit to Armenia.

As reported the Armenian Ministry of Justice, the minister attached importance to the impact of the centuries-old Armenian-Iranian cultural ties on the current relations and presented the priorities of the ministry for reforms in the penitentiary system, the anti-corruption policy, as well as police reforms, reforms in the judiciary and the Compulsory Enforcement Service, stressing the need for exchange of the best practice with Iranian partners.

Montazeri expressed gratitude for the cordial reception and, touching upon the friendly ties between the two peoples, stated that Iran and Armenia need to work more closely in the conditions of the new realities in the region.

During the meeting, the parties discussed cooperation in the legal field and touched upon the opportunities for expansion and deepening of the cooperation.

At the end of the meeting, Iran’s Prosecutor General invited the justice minister to Iran, and Andreasyan accepted the invitation and asked the Prosecutor General to transmit to his Iranian counterpart his invitation to visit Armenia.
