YEREVAN. – The data of the last 14 days show that we have an around 50% increase in cases compared to the previous 14 days. Romella Abovyan, head of the Epidemiology Department of Nosocomial Infections at the National Center for Disease Control and Prevention of the Ministry of Health, told this to a press conference Wednesday—and regarding the coronavirus situation in Armenia.

According to her, the reproductive indicator of this disease is now higher than 1 in Armenia, and this means that it is spreading very fast in the country.

"Unfortunately, we have a 1.5 to 1.7 increase in cases in all groups of children and youth. In addition, according to EU standards, we are already moving from the red zone to the flashing red zone. The case indicator is 475 [in Armenia], if we reach 500, we will be in the flashing red zone. The cases are high in all provinces [of the country], the disease has become younger, and people aged 30 to 50 are more targeted. We also have cases among children who need hospitalization and are now receiving treatment," she added.
