Speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia Alen Simonyan today received Chairman of Armenian General Benevolent Union (AGBU) Montreal Chapter Chahé Tanashian and Secretary of AGBU Montreal Hagop Arslanian.

Greeting the guests, Simonyan highly appreciated the activities of the AGBU for development of several sectors and expressed willingness to support all programs and initiatives for Armenia’s empowerment.

Expressing gratitude for the reception, the guests presented AGBU Canada’s priorities and benchmarked the main programs that will be carried out in Armenia.

During the meeting, the interlocutors touched upon the post-war situation in Armenia and, in this context, Tanashian presented the views of Diaspora Armenians and particularly the Armenians of Canada on the post-war situation. Simonyan emphasized that the current primary issue is the immediate repatriation of the Armenian prisoners of war and civilians detained in Azerbaijan.
