Judge Narine Hovakimyan of the Court of Appeal of Armenia on Monday denied the motion of Hayk Alumyan, a lawyer of second President Robert Kocharyan, to recuse the presiding judge—that is, herself.

The motion was submitted in the previous hearing.

Alumyan substantiated this motion arguing that Judge Hovakimyan cannot be considered independent and impartial, and this trial presided over by her cannot be considered fair.

The aforesaid court decision is not subject to appeal, and it enters into force upon issuance.

Monday’s hearing was adjourned due to the absence of the prosecution and the workload of the court itself.

The next court session was set for November 5.
