Vahe Karapetyan, who was a reserve officer killed during the battles for the defense of Shushi, has been posthumously awarded the Medal for Courage.

By the decree of President of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) Arayik Harutyunyan, the medal was granted to Vahe’s parents today.

Vahe Karapetyan, who was 21 years old, participated in the battles for the defense of Mataghis and Shushi. On November 6, 2020, he was severely injured in Shushi, underwent a surgery and was transferred to a hospital in Yerevan where he failed to regain consciousness and died a few hours before the end of the war on November 9, 2020. Karapetyan was a pharmacologist. After ending his fixed-term military service, he was working as a cameraman and video editor at Armenian News-NEWS.am.
