I know there is a part that is separated from the "October 27" case. I do not want to voice my personal opinion now, but I believe that our society knows the main reasons, the main participants, the questions that were left open, just as it knew that the elections in Armenia have been rigged for 25 years. The NA President Alen Simonyan told this to reporters Wednesday near the monument at the parliament yard—and dedicated to the victims of the October 27, 1999 tragedy in the legislature.

"I assure [you] that we will all get the answers to those questions—in legal terms as well. (…) it is natural that the actual perpetrators are punished, they are in prison, and today we have an issue of finding out the reasons, the instigators, the people who may have had a political or perhaps a non-political interest [in this tragedy]. Our society knows the interest of those people," Simonyan added.

He assured that they will do their best to put the sponsors of this crime behind bars.

On October 27, 1999 a group of criminals broke into the NA Sessions’ Hall and shot several members of the Armenian government and the parliament at point-blank.

Then Prime Minister Vazgen Sargsyan, NA Speaker Karen Demirchyan, NA Deputy Speakers Yuri Bakhshyan and Ruben Miroyan, Minister of Operative Affairs Leonard Petrosyan, as well as MPs Armenak Armenakyan, Henrik Abrahamyan, and Mikayel Kotanyan were killed in this terrorist act.

The trial of these terrorists was held from 2001-2003. As a result, six of them were sentenced to life imprisonment, and another—to 14 years in prison.

But this trial could not—or did not want to expose—the organizers of this terrorist act, and the Armenian society still has serious doubts about these organizers.
