The court session on the criminal case against re-elected yet still imprisoned mayor of Goris, Armenia, Arush Arushanyan, is currently underway at the city court.

Dozens of supporters of Arushanyan have gathered outside the court. Several MPs from the opposition "Armenia" Bloc are also among them.

At today's court hearing, the prosecution will express its position on the defense’s motion to lift the ban on visiting Arushanyan.

The matter of commuting Arush Arushanyan's pretrial detention will also be discussed today; the defense will submit such a motion.

According to press reports, Lusine Avetyan, the Karahunj village prefect who had testified against Arushanyan, is also in the courtroom.
