Russia has supported the creation of the “3+3” regional advisory mechanism and believes the time has come to implement the programs for launching the mechanism. This is what Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Maria Zakharova said during today’s briefing.

“We proceed from the fact that the “3+3” format meets the interests of all the countries in the region,” she added.

Commenting on Georgia’s stance, Zakharova stated that Tbilisi is making contradicting statements on participation in this platform, adding that, as a sovereign state, Georgia has the right to stay true to its position on the format.

The “3+3” format, which is the initiative of Turkey and Azerbaijan, implies the participation of the countries of the South Caucasus and their neighboring countries (Azerbaijan, Georgia, Armenia, Russia, Iran and Turkey).
