At Tuesday’s sitting of the National Assembly (NA) of Armenia, it was decided to convene a closed session today to urgently discuss the matter—tabled by opposition "Armenia" Faction MP Aram Vardevanyan—on clarifying the fate of Armenian prisoners of war, hostages, missing persons and other detainees in Azerbaijan, and returning them to the homeland.

The NA speaker Alen Simonyan stated that at least one-fifth of the total number of the lawmakers had proposed in an official letter to hold an urgent parliamentary discussion on the aforesaid issues.

Simonyan added that it was proposed to hold this session behind closed doors. The MPs accepted this proposal, with 61 votes in favor. The related speakers in this closed session will be the representatives of the competent bodies.

To note, however, only the MPs of the majority “Civil Contract” Faction are attending the current NA sitting. The opposition "Armenia" and "With Honor" Factions did not take part in the aforesaid voting, as they have boycotted today's sitting of the National Assembly.
