Apple temporarily suspended sales of its devices in Turkey as the country's economic crisis intensified on Tuesday morning. The Turkish lira fell 15% after President Tayyip Erdogan vigorously defended the recent interest rate cut, 3dnews.ru reports citing MacRumors.

Currently, Apple's online storefront in Turkey is operational, but devices cannot be added to the cart or purchased. Since last week, the value of the lira has been steadily declining. Over the past year, the lira has fallen by about 45%.

It is not yet known when Apple may resume sales in Turkey. It is also unknown how other tech companies doing business in Turkey will react to the country's economic situation.
