The European Union and the World Health Organization have provided the Surb Grigor Lusavorich Medical Center of the Ministry of Health of Armenia with a state-of-the-art X-ray machine for the radiology unit as part of the wider package of assistance to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the country.

As reported the Ministry of Health of Armenia, Head of the Delegation of the European Union in Armenia, Ambassador Andrea Wiktorin, Minister of Health Anahit Avanesyan and Special Representative of the Office of the World Health Organization in Armenia Oleg Storozhenko today visited the medical center to deliver the X-ray machine.

Ambassador Wiktorin said the EU hopes the new machines will help Armenia promote the fight against the pandemic by facilitating monitoring of the course of treatment of people and improving clinical diagnostics.

In her turn, the Armenian health minister said the X-ray machine will allow to conduct the checkups required for the treatment of COVID-19 patients in a short period and with high quality.

Special Representative of the World Health Organization in Armenia Oleg Storozhenko said the World Health Organization and the European Union continue to support Armenia in the fight against COVID-19 and added that the X-ray machine will provide the opportunity to get a better quality image and follow the course of the disease.
