The Chinese side is strongly opposed to new US sanctions against Chinese companies, official representative of the Chinese Ministry of Commerce Shu Jueteng said at a briefing on Thursday, RIA Novosti reported.

On Wednesday, the US government blacklisted a number of Chinese companies for reasons of national security and foreign policy, according to a message published on the official website of the US Department of Commerce.

The US has generalized the concept of national security and arbitrarily imposed sanctions. There is no factual justification for these sanctions, and the procedure itself is very opaque. China is strongly protesting and will make an official US representation on this issue, she said.

Shu Jueteng noted that the new sanctions list issued by the US Department of Commerce is not beneficial to either the US or China, does not contribute to the security of the global production and supply chain, as well as to the restoration of the global economy.
