Governor of Turkey’s Van province said that Surb Bardughimeos Armenian church will be restored and opened for spiritual tourism.
Governor Munir Karaoglu visited the church abandoned since 1915, Turizmhaberleri website reports. Karaoglu drew attention to the fact that wall decorations have been preserved.
The official gave instructions to launch works to restore the church.
Interestingly, Turkish media outlets which published the news did not mention the church was Armenian.
