As a result of cooperation between the U.S. law enforcement agencies, prosecutors and Armenia, and strong partnership, Armenia handed over to the U.S. a wanted U.S. citizen on January 10, 2022, the press service of the U.S. Embassy in Armenia reported.

After being placed on the Interpol red alert, the U.S. citizen was detained by Armenian Police in Yerevan in August 2021. This was possible thanks to the State Department's Diplomatic Security Service investigations. The man was wanted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation on charges of sexual abuse against a child.

The transfer of the wanted person was possible due to the efforts and cooperation of the RA General Prosecutor's Office and the Office of International Affairs of the US Department of Justice, the Department of International Investigations of the US Bailiff Service, the FBI Legal Attaché (residence in Tbilisi) and the US Embassy in Armenia.

The man wanted in the U.S. will be brought to trial.
