Denmark will offer a fourth coronavirus vaccination to risk groups and vulnerable citizens as the country's pandemic situation worsened due to the rapid spread of the omicron variant, the AP reported.

Danish Health Minister Magnus Heunicke said health authorities will offer a fourth vaccine shot to the most vulnerable groups, such as people with weakened immune systems.

Heunicke did not say when they will start offering the fourth dose in the country of 5.8 million people. He stressed that while Omicron appears less dangerous than the previously prevailing delta variant, it is not harmless.

Beginning January 16, Denmark will ease some of the restrictions imposed on the coronavirus, as lawmakers agreed to reopen movie theaters, amusement parks, museums and theaters, among other places. A limited number of spectators at indoor and outdoor sporting events will also be allowed.
