In eastern Delhi, police found and neutralized an improvised explosive device, the newspaper India Today reported.

The bomb was found at the Ghazipur flower market in the east of the Indian capital. The 1.5 kilogram IED was hidden in a bag. The explosives were allegedly planted to carry out an attack on the eve of India's Independence Day on January 26.

Police quickly closed the site, and a bomb squad arrived and was able to prevent a major attack and prepared a controlled detonation to defuse the IED. Law enforcement and counterterrorism agencies have already opened a criminal case and are investigating.
