A solemn ceremony will be held in Lithuanian Kaunas on the occasion of the entry of the city into the rights of the European Capital of Culture in 2022, the event will be attended by the head of UNESCO Audrey Azoulay, TASS reports with reference to the ELTA portal.

More than 100 different cultural events will take place in Kaunas over the weekend.

A symbolic introduction to the whole project will be the grandiose opening ceremony of Uprising. With this impressive show of music, light, image and movement, the year of the title of European Capital of Culture will officially begin, ELTA reported.
