An earthquake was registered at 4:01pm local time on Sunday by a network of seismic stations in Kazakhstan, Sputnik Kazakhstan reported.

Its epicenter was recorded 9.9 kilometers south of the country’s former capital, Almaty.

The quake measured magnitude of 3.1.

Some Almaty residents felt this tremor.
