The results of the secret ballot for the election of the new Human Rights Defender (Ombudsperson) of Armenia were summed up Monday afternoon in the National Assembly (NA).

The ruling majority "Civil Contract" Faction in parliament had nominated Kristine Grigoryan former—the now former Deputy Minister of Justice—for this position.

Her candidacy was supported by the "Civil Contract" Faction—and with 68 votes.

But the MPs of the opposition "Armenia" and "With Honor" Factions, in fact, boycotted this vote.

Following the announcement of the results of the secret ballot, the new Human Rights Defender of Armenia approached the NA podium and took the respective oath off office.
