Authorities urged the public to limit their outdoor movements while schools were closed in many areas. Government spokesman Ioannis Oikonomou said more than 46,000 school classes across the country are being held online.

Authorities sent out emergency alerts to cell phones in the wider area of ​​Athens on Monday morning, warning of heavy snowfall for the next few hours and urging people to avoid unnecessary travel.

The Ministry of Health has announced that the COVID-19 vaccination centers in the Attica region and on the neighboring island of Evia will close at 15:00. on Monday and will remain closed on Tuesday due to heavy snowfall.
