There must be political harmony between the parliament, the government and the president, said Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, answering the question of who will be the presidential candidate from the Civil Contract party.

According to him, since he learned about the resignation of Armen Sarkissian a few hours before the publication, his political team did not discuss this, but now they should seriously discuss this issue. Discussions should be guided by the experience of the last four years

“Yes, the Civil Contract faction must elect a president. Without a majority, the election of a president is impossible. I think we should make such decisions so that there is political harmony between the parliament, the government and the president. Parliament, government and president should be bound by common responsibility... I can't say that at the moment we have a solution...

I believe that in this situation it is important to resolve the issue of political harmony. Due to the lack of this harmony, we have faced serious challenges. In particular, last year, in the context of the well-known statement of the General Staff, the problem of power arose, we were on the verge of losing statehood. From the point of view of state and national security, it is important that there are no such situations.

Of course, the Constitutional Court gave a legal solution to this situation, and such situations are already ruled out. However, in any case, political harmony is important,” Pashinyan said.
